What are GLP-1 and GIP/GLP-1 weight loss medications?

Simply put, weight loss medications help improve insulin resistance, making it easier for your body to burn calories and fat while boosting energy levels. These medications are peptides that mimic a hormone called glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1), which works on the part of the brain that controls appetite and food intake. By managing blood sugar levels, reducing spikes, and curbing appetite and cravings, these treatments help maintain steady energy levels. They are typically administered as a once-weekly subcutaneous injection.

Who is eligible for the weight loss program?

Currently, we are only accepting patients who meet the following requirements:

• Greater than 18 years of age and less than 65 years of age
• Body Mass Index greater than 25
• Not pregnant or breastfeeding (must be discontinued immediately if you become pregnant)
• Not trying to get pregnant.
• Does not suffer from Type 1 Diabetes
• Not an Insulin Dependent Type II Diabetic
• Does not have hypersensitivity to glucagon-like peptides (GLP-1)
• No personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma
• No personal or history of multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome
• No history of pancreatitis, gall bladder disease, or renal (kidney) disease

How long will I need to be on the weight loss medication?

We tailor your weight loss program to achieve your individual weight loss goals, and the duration of your prescription will be determined accordingly by your provider.
Recommended program length is a minimum of 6 – 12 months in order identify proper dosage to achieve consistent weight loss toward individualized goals.
